Soft Computing is a discipline that deals with the design of hybrid intelligent systems, which is in contrast to classical hard computing technique. A consortium of computing methodologies that provides a foundation for the conception, design, and deployment of intelligent systems and aims to formalize the human ability to make rational decisions in an environment of uncertainty, imprecision, partial truth, and approximation. Fuzzy Techniques play a remarkable role in soft computing and this workshop concentrates more on role of Fuzzy systems in real world applications.

The participants of the workshop will be students and faculty of IIITM-K, teachers of engineering and other colleges in Kerala and TamilNadu, Industry and scientists and research scholars of Scientific Institutions and Universities.

About the Speaker

Prof. Thangavel K, Head, Dept of Computer Science, Periyar University THANGAVEL K, received the master degree of science from the Department of Mathematics, Bharthidasan University in 1986 and Master of Computer Applications degree from Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai in 2001. He obtained his Ph.D degree from Gandhigram Rural Institute-Deemed University, Gandhigram, Tamilnadu, India in 1996. Currently he is working as a Professor of Computer Science, Periyar University, Salem, Tamilnadu, India. He is in teaching since 1989. His areas of interest include Data mining, Medical Image Processing, Genetic Algorithms, Neural Network, Rough Set Theory, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.
