Education Grid aims to improve the quality of higher education through Technology Enhanced Learning and Teaching (TELT) and by promoting collaborations between institutions. This is to be achieved by the following mix of systems, services and programs.

1. Assisting colleges and universities to establish appropriately integrated e-learning related systems that are needed to facilitate the TELT systems and processes, content and instructional management process.

2. Establish the Education Grid systems and processes across the Universities and its affiliate colleges. Link the University Education Grid with the national ERNET and other broadband network and services of relevance to technology enhanced teaching and learning systems and processes.

3. Establish necessary networking and content development systems, University Education Portal and training facility for systems administration and information management. This will include commencing training programs for manpower creation in content development, systems administration and information management.

4. Identify relevant NPTEL courses, disseminate their content to the University, its colleges and localize the e-content by adapting and aligning content from different sources and augmenting them as deemed appropriate for the needs of University approved education programs.

5. Build capacity in the University and its colleges, its teachers, staff and students in effective use of technology enhanced teaching and learning.

6. Jointly share and promote the experiences gained and innovations developed in the above initiatives through workshops, collaborations with other organizations and relevant academic programs.

7. Identify and work jointly in areas of undergraduate/postgraduate/ continuing education and R&D programs time-to-time, conduct workshops, conferences and training as relevant to the advancement and applications of IT, Information and Computational Sciences and other areas, and promote visits by their respective academicians and scholars as deemed fit by the parties.

8. Education & Research Network ERNET has made a significant contribution to
   begin the emergence of networking in the country. It practically brought the
   Internet to India and has built up national capabilities in the area of
   networking,especially in protocol software engineering.It has succeeded in
   building a large network that provides various facilities to the intellectual
   segment of Indian society,the research and education community.It has over the
   years become a trendsetter in the field of networking.
