Oriented Programming with Java course aims
to provide an introduction to the Java programming
language and object-oriented programming methodology.
The object-oriented problem solving and design concepts
are presented in conjunction with the Java object
model, class library, and graphical user interface
(GUI) components. Students will learn to write simple
Java applications and applets.
Audience of this course is generally expected
to be all those interested in learning the basic
and introductory Java programming concepts before
taking a more detailed and in-depth course of
study. Typically, undergraduate business students
majoring in information systems may take this
course in order to gain a brief exposure to the
Java programming language and help them decide
whether to pursue an elective in this area.
Specific learning objectives for the student
include the following:
1. To know the basic principles and benefits
of object-oriented programming in the context
of Java programming language.
2. Learn to edit, debug, compile, and run simple
Java applications and applets.
3. Learn introductory event-driven programming
concepts and use simple GUI components as part
of Java applets.
